I'll post some pictures when I can beg my friend to come take some (because unlike most of you, I just don't seem to have the picture bug).
Last night I purchases a corset pattern. It looks complicated, but if I can figure it out, it should be fun. I always admire the corset look on the girls at the milonga.

good for you! corsets are not easy, I would advise using the spiral boning and not the plastic boning, as the spiral gives more easy of movement and is less likely to pop through your casing. Good luck! If you have any questions, feel free to ask (I am a costume designer by trade and passion ;-P )
Thank you! I'm hoping I haven't bitten off more than I can chew. I'm self-taught, and sometimes feel like I spend a lot of time figuring things out rather than just creating. With this particular project, I'll do a mock corset first, just to make sure I understand what I'm doing before moving on to the nicer fabrics.
I appreciate the tip about the boning!

We must be on the same wavelenth. Once I finish my, ummm, several projects, I want to make a sort of corset top. I was thinking of just the lacing up the back, and no stays...wonder if that is still a corset. Let us know how it goes.

I'm doing some alterations on my pattern too, but only minor ones. At least, i hope they end up being minor. And I guess it's more of a corset look, but not an actual corset?
I am using the boning, because I don't have a lot to keep it up.:)
Also, I am planning on using hook and eye closures rather than the recommended zipper. I'm just not a fan of zippers. And this pattern calls for a zipper on my left side, which I worry will rub on my partner.
I love that as with my tango clothes I am taking risks. Bright colors, more risque cut, etc. It's so much fun!
Oh I have given upon the harem pants. First pair was too narrow, and too chiffon-y. The next pair was too big and too black and too...drapey? I think I might now be a harem pants person now, after all those dozens of pair that I made and wore during my belly dance phase back when dinosaurs roamed the earth. I think I'll make a nice dress now. Maybe the corset, without the bones,
