I have this charming pair of silver shoes, lower heels, strappy, cute little sequins. Love them. I haven't worn them in awhile, but wore them a lot when I started dancing. Last night, I started kicking my left big toe again. I think it may be the shoes! These are not tango shoes. Truth be told, they are bridesmaid's shoes. So, I'm wondering if the placement of the heel has something to do with it?
anyone else had this experience?

I know those shoes!!
The reason tango shoes work so well, is in part, that the heel is in just the right place, the flexibiity, the lightness..they are engineered wonders. Bridesmaids shoes might work if they are very well made?
The placement of the heel is HUGE! I did not realize that until about 8 months into dancing tango. I couldn't figure out why I was so wobbly in my low-heeled ballroom dance shoes. Then I got a pair of CIFs and people started asking me if I had been taking private lessons.
It wasn't the sass of the shoes, it was how they fit my feet properly for the requirements of tango. Who'd a thunk it?
I picked up a pair (my first pair!) if CIFs at tangofest, and am surprised at how stable and comfortable they are. Especially given the height of the heel. I actually traded in my no heeled practica shoes the other night for my CIFs because I wanted the stability of the heel. It was less work.
My ballroom shoes are still comfy, and slightly lower, but they are very different and do affect my dancing. I wouldn't have thought it could matter that much.
If only I could figure out how to walk as gracefully in them out of the dance, as I do in the dance. What's up with that?
